The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh was founded in the 17th century as a psychic garden – it now extends over four gardens with a fantastic collection of plants and is a world renowned centre for plant science and education

The most spectacular rhododendron plant [above] one could ever imagine! So vivid in colour – spectacular and electrifying blue / purple flowers; so vibrant. You just had to look on in pure amazement.

Great for lime trees; pleaching, seen usually in an avenue of trees [above].

In the greenhouse a tree called the Jade Tree [below] – note that the colour of these unusual shaped flowers is turquoise.

And finally a great way to end the day – watching a heron grab dinner or lunch!!
