Imagine having just walked out from under a building – hearing a loud noise behind you and bingo – the building is down but you are still alive! That is what happened when the snow was so heavy on the building that it collapsed. We were lucky that no one was under the building at that time. What a mess and what a fright. This was the winter of 2011. Damage was heavy for us at Hedgehogs Nursery as we also lost our two double wide tunnels. The metal simply bent under the weight of the snow and a mad scramble ensued to save the crop under the mess. Over 400 bare root trees had to be pulled out, many soft fruit and plants – all survived except the tunnels and the building.
